Marcus Cortellini, Senior Accountant, Audit Department St. John Fisher College |
Marcus joined the firm in September 2006 after graduating from St. John Fisher College. “I have learned a variety of skills while at Insero & Company; among them are organization and communication. In this profession, organization is an important skill set, as well as the ability to communicate effectively not only with other Insero personnel, but also with our clients.” “While working at Insero & Company, I have had exposure to working with a wide variety of clients in varying industries. This has been an important aspect in the development and growth of my technical skills.” “Insero & Company has a wide range of community involvement and encourages participation within the firm. We pride ourselves in giving back to the community.” “The atmosphere of the Insero firm is a comfortable one. Partners and managers of the firm are approachable and welcome communication with all team members. One word of wisdom I might give to a college student would be to look at the personality of the firm to see if it is compatible with his or her own career goals and expectations as opposed to focusing on the firm with the largest salary or best benefits.”

Jennifer Martlew, CPA, CFE, Senior Manager, Audit Department SUNY Brockport College |
Jennifer started in the Audit department in June 2000 and in December 2002 was promoted to Senior Accountant. After a short time, she furthered herself in the company by earning a Supervisor position and in December 2005 moved into a Manager role. “When I graduated from college, I thought as long as I could be the most technical accountant, I would find success; however, this was not the case. The interpersonal skills that relate to dealing with different engagement teams, as well as learning how to address the needs of a variety of clients, have provided the most challenges, yet offer the most rewarding opportunities to enhance my professionalism.” “The best part of working at Insero is the open door policy. This is not a policy that is in writing, but is in practice. You not only can walk into any Partners’ (including Frank Insero) office without an invitation and they make you feel very comfortable in the process.” “Overall salary is not usually the best way to select a firm. It is important to learn about the people you are interviewing with and to know if it fits your personality. Selecting a firm is hopefully a long term commitment. You and your coworkers will spend a great deal of time together and a positive and enjoyable environment only enhances your daily work experience and productivity.” |
